Safeguarding & trust

Working safely with young people isn't optional.

I work in schools, so safeguarding is part of my daily professional practice — not something added to a tutoring website afterwards.

Enhanced DBS certificate available on request

Registered with the DBS Update Service. My enhanced DBS certificate can be shown to parents directly on request.

How I work

Clear, consistent practice

Parents are never shut out

You are welcome to be present, nearby, or to see the work from any session. Nothing about a lesson is private from a parent.

Communication goes through parents

Arrangements, scheduling and updates are made with the parent or guardian, not privately with the student.

Professional boundaries

No personal social media contact with students, and no informal messaging outside agreed channels.

Online sessions

Held on a standard platform with a shared working page, in a household space rather than a bedroom wherever possible.

In-person sessions

Held in a shared, visible space in the home with an adult present in the property.

Concerns are acted on

If I ever have a safeguarding concern about a student, I will act on it appropriately rather than ignore it.

Your data

What I hold, and what I don't.

Only what's needed to teach your child well and bill you accurately.

  • Contact details for the parent or guardian, and the student's first name, year group and level.
  • Notes on lessons and progress, used to plan teaching and update you.
  • A record of completed lessons for monthly billing.
  • No card or payment details are ever stored — payment is by bank transfer directly to me.

Verification

Checking who I am

You are entitled to verify anyone who teaches your child. I would encourage it.

Identity

Photo ID can be shown on request before lessons begin.

Qualifications

Certificates can be shown, with personal identifiers redacted.

Professional record

My teaching roles are publicly listed and independently checkable.

Questions about how I work?

Ask me anything about safeguarding, verification or how sessions run. I would rather you asked.
